I’ve contemplated the idea of creating my own blog page for a while now. Even before it was required of me on a weekly basis.
Last year, I applied to this thing called the World Race. A Christian mission trip that plops you into 11 different countries, dwelling for a month in each. It was obviously a life changing decision. I left a full-time corporate world job to essentially be a nomad for just under a year.
The mission trip allows the “Racers” to partner with local ministry hosts every month, coming alongside their ministry and serving in whatever capacity they need. It allows Racers to learn a plethora of new things about the Lord that maybe didn’t even seem fathomable before. It allows a space for constant community and fellowship with believers in Jesus that also applied, for some crazy reason, to this thing.
It also provides a platform to blog for our supporters, friends, and family back in the States. The organization highly encourages us to post once a week. I remember how excited I was when I learned about the writing opportunity.
The choice to obey Jesus has brought me to this moment, sitting on a bed in a crammed Malaysian hostel room. There are three sets of bunk beds side by side with no space in between, only separated by red curtains to pull closed for privacy. It reminds me of some sort of fort like contraption that we probably all dreamed of when we were kids.
A week ago, I was sitting on a different bed in a different city, about to go to sleep when the idea to create a WordPress page popped into my head.
You know when you get in those go getter moods where you just get an idea to do something and can’t let it go? Like the sudden urge to clean your whole house, go for a run or repaint your bedroom? That’s what this felt like. I just had to create this blog page it in that moment.
So, I did. I created an account right then and there. I browsed all of the free themes that I could choose from. It was kind of overwhelming, actually, to skim over all of the options. I tried to customize it to fit me. I fiddled around with it for a while and finally set it aside after about an hour. I revisited the page maybe once sense then, contemplating what my next move was.
That brings us back to this Malaysian hostel. I took a shower and sat on my bed, and my thoughts wandered to this WordPress page. I figure, my next move would probably require putting some words on the page.
If you’ve never met me and somehow ended up on this page, just know for now that I really love Jesus and that I’m confident that I’m typing these words, in this moment, because of Him. Know that if you don’t know Him, my hope is that you soon will. I pray that this blog page is the Lord’s, and that every word will glorify Him and speak truth into my life and yours.
I have been posting blogs on my World Race page for over a year now. I have an archive tab of previous posts to that page. If you would like to read some of those, you can go to Blogs > World Race on the main bar at the top of this page.
I’m going to comment here, instead of your World Race blog because why not. I love that you’ve created this Lindsey! This will be something you can continue to curate for a long time after the Race season is finished.
